I agree that this likely isn't an entirely altruistic stance from Facebook.

Is there any evidence to support that this wouldn't hurt small businesses? My understanding is that many small businesses, particularly niche ones, wouldn't be able to scalably reach their customer base if the price of personalized ads were to increase. Is there any evidence to the contrary?

Who cares? Why is mass surveillance justifiable if it means advertising is slightly more cost effective for small businesses?

Nahh they care only coz it’ll pull more into buying their products in the end all companies care about is making a profit

They're certainly better in that regard, but there remains enough to not prefer them either. (Taxes, worker rights, keeping unwanted apps out the store, not allowing installation of alternative OSs, planned obsolescence) ...

Therefore I'm looking forward to receiving my Librem 5 soon, with 100% free software.
